Dinky on the Farm

To Do List

I have a big day planned. I decided to bring you guys along with me so you can enjoy my world. I am a list maker. I have ADHD (diagnosed at the age of 40) and I do not accomplish much unless I work from a list. I thought if I bring you guys along I will get more done. Let’s see if it works.

Let me start by making a list of items I would like to accomplish today.

Go to bank and get some spending money. Done
Hit us some estate sales and get some interesting stuff. Done
Go to the antique store that I have a booth at and see if anything has sold. Take a picture and see if I need to make some updates to market product more efficiently. Done
Get myself some lunch at the Long John Silvers. I have a credit card reward and also a credit card 10 % off that I will be using. Lunch will be free for me today. I am very frugal. Done
Food prep for the next week. I have much in my pantry and freezer that I can work with. Done
Make something chocolate. I LOVE CHOCOLATE. Done
Go to the Dollar Store and get some Dr. Peppers. I love Dr. Peppers and I love snacks. They have both. Done
Clear out the toy room so I can get my new husband moved in. We are both antique collectors and his hoard and my hoard need to be toned down to fit in one house. LOL.
Rest and watch some Netflix.
Go to bed by 7:30. It’s a big day tomorrow in the daily work world. I have a day job.

I need to get a load of clothes started in the washer before I go out. I use homemade laundry detergent and I like it very much. It is not harsh on my skin.

I need to redo the laundry room wall. It is getting a bit crowded. I will put the discards into a pile for garage sale.

Here I go hopping in my truck to go on my journey. The back bed is full of trash that I did not take to the curb last night. I have a dumpster that I put everything in. It is a little pricey but I invite my daughter and the neighbor across the street to use it with me. I hate taking out the trash.

I just got a call from Poppy (husband). He is still at his old house. He is at the nail saloon get his toes done. I talked him into doing this and now he loves it. Funny.

I saw a sign for a Huge Sale. I went on a side tour. ADHD kicked in. I found three sets of instruction books for painting and cross stitch. I am learning that these sell well on E Bay and they do no get torn up in the mail. I don’t make a lot but dollars do add up. I bought the whole batch for $30.

My haul $5 Coffee plate, bath bomb molds, alcohol wipes and Christmas mugs for gifts.

I pulled up to the huge sale on the roadside, and they had a table set up. Everything was $1. Wow. I can make some bath-bombs from the star molds and put them in the Christmas mugs for friends and co-workers. I have a coffee cart at my home and will be putting the decorative coffee plate in that area of my kitchen. I like using alcohol wipes in my housework. That was a good little haul. I also got some craft books that I might sell on Ebay. Total spent $35.

I sold a Pillsbury Doughboy Giggling bank for $27.

I hit up an estate sale and spent $7. I got a carafe, a square bowl, a hoodie, a blouse, and a pink necklace earring set. It was 75% off day.

I found about $50 rewards on my bank card + 10% cashback, so today I got paid about $2 to eat this meal.

The Chevron app gave me 10 . off per gallon. Still cost me about $40 to fill up

I spent $28.16 on Dr Pepper chips and snacks from my bank rewards. That’s how to do it.

The neatest find of the day is a home ec book from 1937.

I had brewed up some tea and canned it in a hot water bath. It was concentrated. I added water and ice and it is delicious. Fresh as the day I made it.

I got this free at the paller Liquidation store.

Got the something chocolate off my list. I am going to cheat on the food prep. I found frozen chicken gnoche soup and ragu noodles in the freezer. They are cooking now.

To finish off my day I put a pain patch on my knee and am going to elevate my feet while I watch Netflix. Tomorrow, I will work on cleaning that room. Ugh

Getting Married

Well friends, at the age of 60 I am going to get married. We have been dating for about five years and we are ready to tie the knot. He is a collector of fine things and I am a collector of fine things. This will be fun putting together all of our treasures. When I speak of treasures I speak of toy cars, lunch boxes, TinkerToys and other such fine things. I will keep everyone updated with the fun times that are coming.

Hang on, it is going to be a fun hayride.

Juicing

I was given a brand new juicer. I do not eat many vegetables and thought this would be a good way to get some vitamins in my system.

My first recipe was oranges, lemons and strawberries. That was really good. Ok I might be able to do this.

I read the recipe book and off I went to the store. I bought all kinds of things. The ugliest thing I bought was a beet.

The recipe calls for a beet. an orange and a chunck of ginger. Yuck, I thought. I put everything in the juicer . I took a sip. I am surprisingly amazed. I think I have a new hobbie.

Code Blue ICU 8

I am still at the ICU with a friend and it has been a rough night. A procedure had to be done that we were not expecting. The procedure went well. We are all tucked in and ready to go to sleep. My friend is resting well… Then all of a sudden…. Code Blue.

The patient down the hall is having issues. I hear the nurses and doctors working through the emergency situation. I have seen death and do not fear it. It is very different to be so thankful that my friend is doing great but to have tragedy almost happen two rooms away.

The nurse just peaked her head in the window and gave a thumbs up meaning that the person did not pass away.

Once again, getting old sucks.

Getting Old Sucks

I am at the hospital with a friend that went into renal failure. Friend is on the mend. Thank God.

I work as a QA person at a food manufacturing plant. I am really attentive to procedures and rules. Every place works from standard procedures, especially hospitals. I have seen short cuts taken and have been given explanations that just don’t jive. I have called these out on behalf of my friend. I have been an absolute “Karen” today.

To my senior friends- Please remember that you always have a voice especially when it comes to your healthcare.

Cashew Farming

I am interested in cashew farming. I met a friend from Vietnam and she told me her family had a cashew farm. I have always been interested in cashew farming. I wonder if you have to be in a tropical environment for cashew farming. If you have any insight, please give me advice.

I just checked in with AI and she advised me to stick to pecan farming. I have pecan trees. That maybe a plan.

Dance Party

I had a great time today going to estate sales. I came across a huge collection in vinyls and today I am having myself a dance party while I clean my house.

The albums I purchased are primarily country and western. My father was a music teacher and owned a music store. I grew up with a house full of music.

These songs remind me of my sweet daddy. This is a good time and a happy place for my heart.

Pecans

I spoke to a fella the other day and he told me that I could get a pecan company out to my place to shake my pecan trees and they might pay me as much as $10000. He said all I had to do was clean up under the base of each tree before they come out. Wow that sounded like free money to me.

I talked to another fella and he asked if I have pecan trees on my place. I told him yes and he asked what I would charge him to get some for cooking on the grill. I asked him what he was cooking. Ribs he told me. I’ll take a few ribs. Wow that sounded like free food.

So I got the brillant idea that I would go down to the pecan pasture/orchard and mark the pecan trees with pink landscaping tape. I will clean out under the trees and pick the pecans up. That in itself is a chore.

Today I drove the four wheelercdown there to that pecan orchard and marked three trees. There must be at least 15 in that one pasture. Well, I cleaned up a little, picked a few pecans and gathered up some wood for my Superbowl steak cookout tomorrow. I am pretty tired but it was a beautiful day and I enjoyed the sunshine.

Nothing in life is free but many things are worth the effort. I told a gal I know that I had picked some pecans. She asked if her sister could come pick some. I know how much work it is and did not want anyone possibly getting hurt. I thought it over and the next day I gave the woman a plastic tub of shelled pecans.

I received a precious hug and a big thank you. That was well worth the effort.

Cupcake

This is my bull Cupcake. He is a Limosine/Angus cross. I bought him from a divorcee that did not want her cows bred. Cupcake enjoys breeding. I have not seen a calf from him yet. I think my girls are getting old. I may have to refresh.

The other day my neighbor called and told me that my bull was out in the road. I went outside and he just followed me to my gate and then to the coral. I scratched him behind his ears, gave him some hay and thanked him for being such a sweet bull.
