Steak Dinner

HEB Grocery shopping

I have not cooked in a long time. I don’t like the house to get too hot. Tonight I was in the mood for a good steak and I make a great one. I like tenderloin and Papi like the ribeye.

Ribeye and Tenderloin

They are about the same price but I will always take a tenderloin. It is a superb cut.

Salt and fresh ground pepper
Bills’s Season All

I got this seasoning at the ranch store in Lampasas Texas.

Mango Pineapple Juice

I use a little juice to add sweetness and the acidity breaks down the toughness.

EVOO
Worcestershire Sauce

Everything in Texas gets Worcestershire.

Marinade

Let sit

Mesquite wood grill

This is a great combination of flavors. I ate it with peas, loaded potatoes and garlic bread. Sorry I forgot to snap a picture. Delish.

Peace out and Jesus Loves You.

Repair of the Four Wheeler

Crank Shaft Sensor

Last week I took the four wheeler down to the back pasture to look at the fence line. Years ago when my previous husband Chuck was in the hospital, I had five cows that went missing. I checked with the neighbors and was told that if the cows were at their place longer than 3 months they would already have taken them to the sale barn. I understood and counted it a loss. Recently, I spoke to the grandson in law of the property owner and he informed me that I had many cows over on his in-laws place and he would be more than happy for me to come get them. It sounds like there are many of my cows over there. They have been multiplying. Go figure.

I asked him if he could let me get the fence line put back together to make sure they don’t get out again. He said that would be fine.

I took the four wheeler out last weekend and it just stopped in the middle of my ride. Today I asked Julio to come over and help me get it back to the front of the property. He is a great help. He put a chain on my Cub Cadet mower and pulled the four wheeler back to the front of the property. He looked up the code that was showing and determined that the crank shaft pressure sensor was acting up. It is still having issues but now I know how to make it go.

I noticed the cows were up in the coral. Turns out they had locked themselves in the pin. I undid the gate and they went back into the field. The bull that was with the girls is one that I did not recognize. I guess it is one of the five that escaped a few years back. Cupcake was not with the group so I guess he is next door.

I was able to ride the four wheeler back down to the back pasture with Julio and we decided what issues need to be worked on. I am excited to get the full herd back together again. I am also excited that I do not have to check those fence lines on foot.

Here is a picture of Hershey. She is happy and settled in the back pasture.

I am headed back to the house.

Peace out and Jesus loves you.

McDonalds Blueberry and Cream Cheese Pies

OMG this was the best fried pie I have ever had. I was craving a Mocha Frape and I got a pie to go with it. Papi just came out of retirement and went to work selling cars. He sold a car today so I am bringing him how a fried pie. He loves blueberry pies. He will be so happy. Little things to celebrate is how we live life.

Peace out and Jesus Loves you.

I love Clothes

Someone else’s closet

I love clothes. I love bargains. I love to buy clothes on sales. This is someone else’s closet in the picture. My closet is crammed together and I usually break my plastic hanger trying to fit in a new treasure.

My goal for my closet is to narrow it down to only having one closet. I need to dig through and find my favorite outfits. I also need to dig out the clothes that do not fit. I need to find a good venue or web site to list my clothes on.

I do not have much time before work today but I am glad that I took a moment to share with you guys what my thoughts are.

Peace out.

Cowboys, Indians, and Stained Glass

Cowboys and Indians

Papi and I collect many things. We enjoy artwork and our taste varies. I have just put together our cowboy and indian wall. I have some other items that will add to the drama of this wall.

stained glass

I have always enjoyed stain glass. I would like to take some classes and learn some techniques. In the meantime I will just enjoy the work of others.

The Morning Ride Checking the Fence Lines

To do list

I have been needing to check the fence lines for quite some time. I recently had one wash out part repaired by my friend Julio. I have not been able to ride the fence line because my four wheeler has been out of sorts. We recently got it repaired and now I am ready to check the fences.

The four wheeler has seen better days

Here I go I hop on the four wheeler and get ready to go exploring. I love these rides because I never know what I will see on the property. This morning I saw a rabbit but I was not quick enough to snap a picture.

Sunrise behind the gate.

This is a make shift gat that really needs to be repaired. It is very hard for me to open it. I will put that on my list for Julio to help me with.

Daniel’s new goats

My neighbor Daniel moved in on the back side of the property not too long ago. Him and his wife own a Nigerian grocery in Dallas, Texas. Their plan is to start a greenhouse and raise African vegetables for their grocery. They asked if they could purchase two donkeys from me so they could get an agricultural exemption on their property takes. I had my neighbor’s donkeys on my neighbor Dalton’s donkeys at my place and Dalton agreed for them to be sold. We got Jack over to Daniel’s place but could never get Jenny to get on a trailer. Now Daniel wants me to get Jack back to Dalton’s place and he is going to start raising goats. Hmmm, how is this my delima? I will get the message to Dalton for Daniel.

What the Hey?

The four wheeler has stopped again and left me in the middle of my 50 acres. I will be walking the fence line by foot. LOL.

Sweet baby goats and Mamma

When I walked up to the fence line and say the goats, the momma goat fell down and rolled on to her back. I believe she is a Fainting Goat. There are a few babies out there. I would like to raise goats. They are very sweet but you have to have good fences. I am having a hard enough time with the cattle fences.

The goat says hi

Here is a picture of Jack the Donkey.

A close up. She is too cute.
This fence could use some repair.
A tree fell on this fence.
On this one as well.
This could use a little work.
Here is some washout.
One of my girls stepped out to say hi to me. Love it

Here is one of my girls wishing me a Hello. I have not seen the others. They are at the neighbors or are finding shade under the trees.

Rail Ties

Maybe these can be used to help with the fence line. Who knows. It’s time to call Julio and see if he can get those fences cleared out for me and repaired. Then I need to call my cowboy friend to capture my cows from my neighbor Donald. It is all about working together. I am sure Donald is ready to get my cows back to where they belong.

Peace out and Jesus Loves you.

Is it Hoarding when It’s Cool Stuff?

My Hoard

OK OK. So I like to go to estate sales and find treasures. It seems as if my treasures do not always find their intended home. I also like to look at my finds before I put them away. I also like to work on my projects, several at a time. This is comparable to my brain with ADHD. This is my corner with ADHD.

Papi has come out of retirement and has started a new job. He was bored sitting at the house. I have my schedule changed for a week in order to train someone. I have the house to myself in the mornings before going to work in the evenings. Now is the time to get a few things done.

Papi’s First Day of Work Picture

Yesterday I reupholstered a bed bench. I bought it at an estate sale and it was covered in a dirty white material. I had found some orange and red and yellow material at another estate sale a while back. I now have a beautiful bench full on Marsha Bradley style. Love it.

Retro bench

I have a list of many things to do before I go to work this evening. You are more than welcome to come along with me for the ride. I will document it via pictures.

Let’s go have some fun.

Peace out.

Chinese Buffett and Goodwill

Chinese Buffet

We are starting on a small road trip to go to the Chinese Buffett in Denton, Texas, USA. We are foodies all around and love to eat. The Buffett in Denton is our favorite. We have a favorite waitress and her name is Anna. She remembers what we like to drink and how much sweetener that Papi likes in his tea. We have even exchanged gifts. I gave her some coffees and she gave me some Chinese tea.

We eat so many good things. Papi likes his Egg Drop Soup and I prefer the Hot and sour with the tofu. So good. We will eat until we are stuffed. I love the ran-goons and egg rolls and Papi loves anything with shrimp. They have Sushi and Mongolian BBQ. There is also a chocolate fountain that the children can dip marshmallows in. I top off my meal with an almond cookie and a cup of ice cream.

It turns out that Anna told us that our Buffett will be closing for renovations within a month and will be closed for about 4 months. She took our number to text us when they will be opening again. Sweet.

Next we went to the Goodwill for a look around for treasures. I got about 4 dresses that were half price and Papi got some work pants.

The Goodwill store is right next to the Buffett restaurant. We like to go over to the store and walk off all of our lunch. We search for interesting artwork and vintage T-shirts and what ever else we see.

Mexican Meat Market

We picked up our dinner at the Mexican Meat market. We bought barbacoa , avacado, tortillas, and sweet bread.

It is very good for a quick Sunday night dinner.

Then we stopped at another Goodwill store. I got some hand soap and a needlework project. I seem to collect textile projects. Maybe I should get some of them worked up.

Now we are headed home.

Peace out and Jesus Loves You.

Comes Around Goes Around

Good morning world. I have been away for a minute focusing on life changes. I have recently remarried and am starting a new life with a new partner. I will be turning 62 this year on my birthday in December. I just want to be an example to my followers that it is never too late to start over.

My new last name is Hernandez, but you guys can still call me Dinky. I got married at the court house in Lampasas Texas USA. My husband and I both enjoy collecting antiques and shopping at resale stores. We enjoy going on road trips. We are currently planning a trip to Port Aransas to go on a Bay fishing trip. It will be loads of fun. We rent a condominium for the week. It is the same condo every year. The beach is literally just a two minute walk away. This trip will be at the end of September. I will try to keep you guys updated.

I am excited about my new adventures. I am still a QA Project lead at a coffee manufacturing plant. I have a great team working with me and look forward to what is to come at the job.

The farm here is also on the move up. During the days Chuck was ill, some of the cow herd traveled to the neighbors property. I counted it as a loss. There were about 5 cows that escaped. I have since repaired the wash out area of the fence. I visited with the neighbor and the grand son in law told me he still has my cows. Wow what a blessing. They have now multiplied to around 20. Cool. I will keep you guys updated on that as well.

I have taken the summer off from cooking, the heat is a killer in Texas. I have been collecting cool cookbooks at the estate sales. I look forward to sharing interesting recipes with you folks. The collection of books is massive. Let me know which ones you are the most interested in and I will try to put them out there for you.

I have also been listing some of my estate sale items on EBay. My name on EBay is grandmadinkydo. Check it out and see if you find anything you like.

I have a few other projects in the wings. I will update you guys when I am ready to share. Stay safe and happy.

Peace out and Jesus Loves You.

Value

Value

How do we measure a person’s value. Is it measured by the net worth? Is it measured by the number of friends they have on social media? Is it measured by their importance in the community? Is it measured by their value to their work place. Is it measured by the amount of love they receive from their spouse? Is it measured by the respect their children show them? I do not know the answer to these questions. I just know that I cannot get wrapped up in these questions when trying to access my own value. It is not measured in these things. It is measured by the way I live my life and the respect and love I show others. Often times I fail, but I just keep trying. I try to build on my successes.
